The Gaia Catalogue of Galactic AGB Stars

The Gaia mission discovered several hundred thousand long-period variables and measured parallaxes for many of them. These stars will allow to study populations of variable stars in the Milky Way, among others Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars.

This data server provide access to 1172 oxygen-rich AGB stars with OH maser emission. The catalogue has been enhanced with the spectral energy distribution (SEDs) of the sources built with photometric data extracted from the Virtual Observatory, and with physical parameters obtained from the SEDs model fitting. Detailed information on the identification and characterization of these objects is available at López Martí et al. (2025)

This is the first sample in our Gaia Catalogue of Galactic AGB Star under construction. In the next steps, a sample of carbon-rich AGB stars and a sample of oxygen-rich AGB stars with no OH maser detections will be added.

The SVO archive of Asymptotic Giant Branch stars is the result of a joint collaboration between the Centro de Astrobiología (CAB, CSIC-INTA), the European Space Agency (ESA), the Universidad San Pablo CEU, and the Universität Hamburg. This work was funded by ESA through the Faculty of the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) - Funding reference 4000139151/22/ES/CM, and by the Spanish MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/ through grant PID2020-112949GB-I00. The system is maintained by the Spanish Virtual Observatory group of the CAB (CSIC -INTA).
